What to Watch Wednesday: White Christmas
My favorite Christmas movie and one of my favorite movies in general.
For the last Muny musical production of the summer we have The King & I. I grew up watching the movie and saw a HS production of the musical 5ish years ago. Excited as always!
Tonight’s show at the Muny is one I’d never heard of before I got the schedule: Pirates! (or, Gilbert & Sullivan Plunder’d)
I saw Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance 6ish years ago in college (sheesh, I feel old) and really liked it.
This week at the Muny: Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I’ve wanted to see this show for a while, so I’m really looking forward to tomorrow night.
Another plus: after tonight I have 3 days off, and then I’m back to the day shift. It’s weird, but even after working 7pm-7am my body thinks it should be awake and alert in the mornings/day. I guess I’m not adjusting properly to the night shift.
You guessed it, this week’s musical at the Muny is Dreamgirls. Seriously excited to hear those power ballads tonight. Here’s hoping it’s not too hot. Humidity kills me. I’m a delicate flower. ;)
OMGOSH I’m excited!!!

Last year’s Little Mermaid was prob my favorite show of the year (if not tied with Singing in the Rain) and I’ve got high hopes for tonight!
Update: I hate to be a negative Nancy, but this show was VERY DISAPPOINTING! The actor who played Aladdin was AWFUL! Def the worst lead I’ve seen at the Muny in years. My mom kept looking at me and laughing because he was so bad. And she’s not nearly as picky as I am. He couldn’t sing half the notes in his songs, couldn’t act (I’m talking 1-2 facial expressions & the rest of the time stood there like a statue) and couldn’t dance (seriously, how do you forget choreography for multiple numbers at this level?)
All the season ticket holders around us were asking if they could comment somewhere to make sure he never gets asked back.
Week 2 at the beautiful Muny and this week’s musical: Chicago. I was in HS when the movie version came out (btw, Catherine Zeta-Jones is GORGEOUS) and of course a show choir nerd like me had the soundtrack memorized.
Super excited to spend the evening in Forest Park watching a musical with my mama. NOT excited about the 106+ temps and the predicted 50% humidity that’ll keep me nice and sticky.
